Only Revolutions

One of the talents of the Scottish Trio, Biffy Clyro has always been their ability to change and evolve their sound through each album they release.....until now. The first thing to note is that their latest release 'Only Revolutions' is a solid album but is not adventurous enough. They have taken their poppy formula from 'Puzzles' and have not altered it in anyway and although no doubt thousands of fans will remember each word and worship this album, I feel cheated. The only song that has a different sound is 'Born on a Horse' and even this just comes across as Biffy trying to prove that they have changed but it is in fact, just a simple pop song. The album still has their signature harmonies, dramaticism and time changes which make the songs fun sing-alongs but there just is not enough depth to them. They didn't even take a chance with the producer by using Garth Richardson, the producer of 'Puzzles' to take charge again. I believe that first-time listeners of Biffy Clyro will think this is a fun, interesting pop album with great instrumentation and production but I do hope the band try and be a little more adventurous with their next album or they may lose at least one supporter. Songs to listen to are 'Bubbles', 'That Golden Rule' and 'Many of Horror.'
