Living Things

'Living Things' is the latest album from rock giants Linkin Park and is not one to be missed. Each record put out by the 6-piece has been unique in some way and this album is no different. From the first track, the band blasts into 'Lost in the Echo' which showcases their new sound which has both hip-hop and metal influences throughout. What should also be mentioned is that it is clear how musically talented this group is- the melodies and harmonies are all intertwined to create 'big' sounding songs. Fans of Linkin Park will be able to hear how the group have combined the hip hop sound of 'A Thousand Suns' with the melodies of 'Minutes to Midnight' but also including the heavy guitar sounds heard in 'Hybrid Theory'. This mixture has helped create a unique and truly epic sounding record which has been greatly helped by Rick Rubin's talented production skills. Each track fits this album perfectly, although some may not be as radio friendly such as 'Victimized' and 'Lies, Greed, Misery' but are still great, intense, punk-influenced songs. Overall, this album is worth buying and worth listening to over and over again. The stand-out tracks on this record are 'Lost in the Echo', 'Castle of Glass' and 'In My Remains'.
